Dan, I have tried HDR with birds and it never works for me. Not sure about so many branches, although I know you're going more for the scene. Hmmmm, let's see the opinions of others, since at first sight it doesn't work much for me.
Like Fabs, I wasn't set totally on fire with this one, but there is something sort of intriguing about it. I played around with what I might do with it as a sort of "scene" piece ... just for fun.

I like what David did in the re-post to lighten/warm it and even eliminate the bright spot.........but I'm with Fabs on this one......to many branches and busy......and the owl is too large for my tastes to be a "criiterscape". Fot that to be effective IMO....the "critter" need to be isolated......with the environs all around it.
I like David's rework on the image. I am of the same mind - too busy and the owl just does not hold your interest long as you try to make sense of the branches.
