    Default Snowy Owl

    Model = Canon EOS-1D Mark II N
    Exposure Time = 1/2500"
    F Number = F8
    Exposure Program = Manual
    ISO Speed Ratings = 400
    Metering Mode = Spot
Flash = Flash did not fire, compulsory flash mode
    Focal Length = 400mm
    Color Space = sRGB
    Exposure Mode = Manual exposure
    Baited
    Handheld using Bushhawk
Full frame with a bit of canvas added

I was lying down on the ground in a spot that I cleared snow out of, so I could get as low as possible to get this image.

Sorry I haven't been participating much in the forum, I've been away shooting the Snowies. Just got back....

Great angle, composition, pose and details. I'm not too crazy about the silos (?) in the BG. Maybe you could make them disappear. :)

I'd say that you've had a fantastic time if this is any indication. I've looked at this a couple of times....thinking about Axel's comment on the silos. I think the more I see it, the more I like the silos. I like getting a sense of where the owls live.......not to mention the action. All the techs are great. I look forward to seeing more Snowy images.....knowing that someone is getting out to photograph the birds....in nice light.

For once I'm going to disagree with Axel;) I think the silos add depth to the image & illustrate quite well the wintering grounds of these birds. Here in Quebec anyway, farmland seems to be where you'll get a good chance to see them. The low angle makes this super sweet.

Wow, very cool!! If anything I think this image could use a very minimal CCW rotation.

Hi Jody. A beautiful flight image of the snowy and I agree with Lana too. I feel the silos add a very subtle interest to this image . This would make a superb painting !! Love it as is.
