i thought the light was kinda nice here. have no clue what it has in its mouth.

pretty much right out of the camera. NO PS work. just regular processing in CNX.

Sharp details...good color rendition...good head angle and eye contact...I like the multi toned green background the way it goes from light to dark...nicely done Doctor...I like the placement of your bird in frame...my only suggestion would be to selective sharpen the eye just a tad more...good show I like this very much...

Nice complementing BG with the light bird Harold. I agree the light is beautiful. Agree with Gus on sharpening of the eye, maybe even darkening a bit?

It's a beautiful portrait, Harold, but I'd challenge you on the contrast. I think a touch more contrast on the different feathers would give the image a bit more tonal range and "pop." I also added a slight reduction of "offset" on the exposure adjustment in PS. See what you think...

(Mine might be a tad dark but I'm working in a room where the sun is bouncing off all the newfallen snow right outside the windows onto my monitor! You could always do a layer mask on the darker areas of the water.)

Harold, nice and sharp, beautiful details and the water color is super! Julie's repost is good, but I like your water color in the orig. better.

how's this for a repost? boosted contrast in bird only and got rid of the double catchlight in the eye.

I think that is a seed pod from a black mangrove in her mouth.
