    These birds have such spectacularly long wings that it seems a shame to cut them off. On the other hand, when they get this close there is no way to fit the wings in the frame. I cropped this from a horizontal image. Does this work for folks? Opinions? Image made at Espanola Island, Galapagos. 20D, 300 f/4, 1/1250, f/8, ISO 400. Comments are welcome.

    I like the details, exposure control and head angle. The crop works for me.

    I like the crop too. There's some chromatic aberration on the bird's right wing, may get rid of it in ACR conversion, although sometimes it does not work :(

    I would add a little more contrast. The crop works well for me.

    Hey Steve,
    Intentional crop is OK....as it is here.....clipped....not so good. I like the position and how we focus on the birds face now.....normally with all that wing....it is minimized....so nicely done.

    Like it. I was thinking about the composition but finally I like it.
    The expo control is really fine.
