This little guy was minding his own business feeding, I was taking a few shots and I noticed a dog walker approaching. I managed this shot before it flew away. The dog walker came up to me as the dog chased all the birds off, she said "is that a camera?" I said "Yes", she then said "are we in your way?"

Pretyy neat pose! I don't mind the head angle here as the complete "pose" leads us in anticipation of the turn seemingly about to be made. Too bad the focus point looks to be on the grounded foot and wingtips. Perhaps some selective sharpening of the face would help negate this. Composition-wise I would only crop some off the top - the added empty space above does not add anything here.

Unconventional but tells the story well. I like the over the shoulder glance and water looping from the wet sand. I agree with Dan re cropping from above.

I agree entirely, I have just re-cropped and it makes a big difference.

Nits mentioned. What was your reply to her question? I know what mind would have been , but it's not for publication.

I just explained that she nor the dogs were in the way, in fact they had given me a much clearer opportunity to capture the sand and the sea without the birds being in the way.
