I saw a Gator trying to get a bird today, and this one reminded me of the last thing the prey sees before getting eaten.
    But let's not get philosophical...

Nice DOF on this one. Just enough detail in the eye to know its there but not detract from those teeth.

    Fabs,
Interesting perspective. I am not sure if birds would love to see this. :D
Why ISO 640 and 1/2500? Were you trying to freeze some action?
    Thanks for sharing.
    Cheers,
    Sabyasachi

Sabyasachi, when in the field, 'm always expecting action, you never know who's going to jump close to you, so I keep my shutter speed for Florida light between 1250 and 3200, play with the ISO according to light and my camera on continuous, high frame rate. For stills, I move the focus point.

    Thanks, guys.

I certainly like the idea here Fabs. I was wondering if too much body was oof? Maybe it is just me and my square crop brain. What do you think of this one? Just an idea. I'll say one thing you got the teeth to really stand out.

On another note; sorry I did not get to look you and Al up when I came down. I had to leave rather suddenly. I would love to come back down sometime for a short stay to soak up the glades. Maybe then. Thanks for your hard work here on BPN.

Nice DOF! That gator apparently has a good dental hygenist!

Thanks, Peter, but I value my life too much. Flashing this beast three feet away seems like looking for trouble to me.

Come on Fabs, where is your sense of adventure?
Startling a potential man eater sounds tempting.

Then again a teleconverter might not be a bad idea;).
