    Default Playing Around

I have minimal PS skillz with CS3 ... but have been dying to do a composite using this background for a while. I'm not happy with the execution, and also not really sure this is the right place to be gathering comments on these types of efforts :)

HI Kurt - a dramatic composite - love the colours of the sky and the P.S. work looks good - Id like to see the bird just a tad lighter for my taste.

    Good Job.

    Hi Kurt,
A very nice composition, the sky is beautiful...would like to see more details in the under wings of your bird...looking forward to your next one...

Very dramatic with a beautiful sky! The PS work looks very good. Agree with Gus and Lance on lightening the bird a bit.

You are in the right place Kurt !!!

PS work is fine ... we need to work on that bird :) The original is underexposed Here you might be able to get away with opening the shadows Love idea and execution !!!

Would go after and post some bif in different positions and settings Will give you a hand !!!

Kurt...I disagree somewhat about lightening the wings. If you make it much lighter the image will look very unnatural. By the position of the bird the very late light is hitting the back of the bird and not underneath. If you took this naturally the bird would probably be a sillouette. I like this very much as is!

Exactly what I was thinking at the time, but I was also wondering if the bird was just too dark around the head. Or if I should warm the color of the head a bit to match the light ... or both :) There was actually quite a bit of darkening I did to the bird just because of what you pointed out, it would normally be in silhouette. But I can also pretend I had a better beamer and flash and lighten the bird up some too.

If it is alright, I'll post the originals of the two images for comparison and thoughts. I'm just sorta getting the hang of using the magic wand but it still oooks too 'pasted on' a bit for my taste. The illusion of having the same light source helps alot with composites I think.

Nice one Kurt! Like it a lot. Agree on the wings/bird, don't need to open up much, just a bit like this maybe

    Hi Kurt:

Lovely composition, you did a marvelous job, and it's very striking. Nonda's minor lightening under wings put it over the top.

Thanks for sharing it with us.
