    Default Barrow's goldeneye takeoff

    We have quite a few Barrow's Goldeneye wintering here on the Shoshone River. We had a fog and heavy frost yesterday morning and I was out capturing images for my book. As with most divers the goldeneyes run across the water a good ways to get airborne...

    Great moment my only nit would be that i believe this is a common goldeneye as the eye patch is not more slender near the top to form a tear drop

    You are correct. We have more Barrow's than common so I didn't even look closely...

    Cool running pose and the raised wings add to it. I might try a slightly tighter crop.
