Wonderful. The stem and wing lines point straight to the eye and focuses my attention there. Very lovely

Outstanding image and really shows that you don't need macro lenses to make macro images. The sharpness of the bee is really awesome! I also like the angle capturing out of focus flowers fading into the background. Did you use any fill flash on this shot? I only asked because the highlight on the bees eye is perfect and was wondering if that was natural light, or reflection from a fill flash.

Jim, it was natural light that day, didn't have my macro flash yet. Light angle, I guess.

Excellent use of DOF for this photograph Fabs!
I like how the bee seems to head out your way through the chosen angle!

I would also be interested in a blend of this image and one with a higher use of DOF in order to get the whole flower sharp, but leave the BG soft as it is.

    Well done!

    Greetings,

    Jeroen Stel
