    Default Old Boards

Here is another shot that I took of the side of our barn. For this one I decided to go with B&W rather than sepia. Any C&C are welcome!

Program mode, pattern metering, cloudy WB
Processed in PS CS2; curves adjustment, converted to B&W using channel mixer

Christopher, I like the unusual subject and your thinking here is great, The b&w looks good. The strapping on the other one was a focal point and I think that the focal point may be missing here

I was going to say the same thing as Denise. It is that stripe down the vertical plane that really drew my eye in the last one. This one has better lighting IMO - I'd think about cloning the strap in??? Maybe???

Thanks for the comments. I had thought that the space where the strapping is missing was interesting enough to serve as the focal point, but now looking at it again in comparison to the other one I think you're right that it lacks a strong focal point. In this repost I pasted in some strapping from another shot and also cropped a bit. Does this look any better?

    Hey Christopher,
another vote for the re-post. The added focal point of it back in adds greatly.....but I want to go back to your original vision......the focal point is the shadow but it got lost in the vastness of the board textures.....as it was very subtle.....I'm showing you a crop.....as next time in the field.... you will see that the shadow needs to be focused on a bit more to make an impact. I did play around with levels, curves, SH, and contrast to try and bing them up even more........so give it a go yourself! these are very interesting and show everyone the endless possibilities if you take the time to look! Let me know your thoughts.
PS You will start to notice my love of the crop tool!:D

Roman, I like your repost. I hadn't even considered a vertical crop. I'll have to play with this some more. It also gives me some ideas for a reshoot. Thanks!

PS. I've noticed your love of the crop tool, I like tight crops too!:D

Beautiful either in Roman's or your reposts Christopher. I think your has more punch to it but Roman's is really strong as well. You can see where the strap was and your mind fills in the blanks.

You are really learning a lot aren't you? Don't you love the feedback on these forums? Great advice given by everyone.
