Default Egretscape - fisheyein' at Estero.

The birds are so tame and come in so close at Little Estero lagoon that it was time to try something new. The hardest part of this image was to wait for perfect seperation between the birds, and also for a good head angle from the closest individuals. There was a fog that morning...this caused the horizon to disappear in URC where the lagoon continues on. A Brown Pelican, located vis-a-vis the distant egrets, was patch-tooled out. A special thanks to Artie for letting me use his fisheye lens:) I can only imagine what this would turn out like with a non crop-factor body!

    Canon 40D + 15mm f/2.8 fisheye lens, aperture priority, evaluative metering, 1/160s., f/8, ISO 500, +1.7 EC, handheld.

    Daniel:

It really gives the feeling that you are out there in the flock, walking around in the water. Which you probably were! The fog makes is surreal.

I might try a modest crop off the bottom so the foreground doesn't dominate the picture so.

I actually like the foreground of shallow water, since it is more of a habitat or situational photo.
I have never used a fish eye lens so not sure how difficult it is to get what you want, but like it because it is different.

Very Nice - you have ridiculously tame birds over there :)
Here If I tried to do this - the birds would be spes on the horizon :)
