This is another image in the sequence of the Gnu/Wildebeest kill, shot in the Masi Mara Triangle. This is a new slide scan. but has no detailed exposure information. I thought some environment gave the image location. The second is cropped tighter, which do you feel is better? I wish I had catch lights in the eyes, but the moment seemed the most important, and no time to add flash fill. (I hope this isn't breaking the rules.) Thanks for looking, I hope you like one of them. C and C eagerly sought, I'm here to learn.

Tighter crop works better for me. Although I like the trees in the BG of the first, the brightness behind them is a little overpowering.

A hair-raisingly graphic portrayal of a kill! This was a very worthwhile image for the behavior it reveals and the moment it captures.

I prefer the uncropped frame with the trees contributing some context and sense of the space. The cut-off tree line in the cropped version is a bit distracting and creates an unfinished look. The proportion of the uncropped frame works better for me too, rather than a pano format.

Incredible captured moment. Amazing to see the whole family involved in the kill. Quite a graphic capture John and thanks for sharing.

    John,
You got a lovely moment. I am sure it would have been awesome to watch it.

I like the version with the trees as the treeline in the crop is distracting. The inclusion of the trees gives it a sense of place. It may also be noted that the lions and the kill occupies a major portion of the scene, so I think cropping doesn't make much difference in increasing the emphasis on the feeding. The cubs tail looks nice.

    Cheers,
    Sabyasachi
