Luckily this Babbler came and sat quite close to me to feed on the remains of the food, so quickly took this shot.

I like the eye contact. The bird looks a little dark on my monitor. I might crop some off the left and add some canvas on both the bottom and the right.

I see the perch was not the greatest therefore I understand you may not have wanted to include it too much. I do think, however, that a bit more room below and placing the bird more to the left of the frame would have been advantageous to the composition. With the subject standing in the shade and with a bright BG this would have been a perfect candidate for fill-flash. I love the grumpy look on this guy!

Bg is very nice - sure looks grumpywith you - do agree with the comments on the perch and bird does look a tad dark :)

Will work on the composition, and crop a bit from the left. But since it is a full frame shot, will try to keep in mind to keep more space at the bottom.
