    Default Crested Tern

Beautiful day today - mid 20s, light breeze, so I headed out to the stringybark forests west of Casterton to chase Red-tailed Black Cockatoos at their waterholes. Two hours later after walking 8-10km to get the RACV to get me out of the sand I'd buried the car in ........ The hard surfaced track abruptly finished on the crest of the dune and, despite slamming on the brakes, I buried it - very embarrassing.

So, with an empty camera, here is a Crested Tern from a few weeks back
canon 1d2n 500/f4 with 1.4X resting on beanbag
    ISO 400 f10 1/200 exp comp -1/3

    cheers Rob

If it is any consolation, I attended a Red-tailed Black Cockatoo count a few years ago and didn't find a single bird. I didn't bury my car though. Sounds like you had an especially bad "bad photography day".

I like the ruffled pose and head turn.

Hi Rob - sounds like a bit of a adventure - like the pose and the low shooting angle. Gotta love terns great for when you cant find anything else and they are so obliging. :)
