Thanks to a great tip from a friend I found an all too friendly bald eagle who let me get as close as I wanted. Fisherman and little kids kicking and screaming didn't phase this bird one bit.

The light and the clouds were not perfect but its the best baldy shot I've ever got.

    D300, 500mm f8 1/800 ISO 320

Curves, saturated the blue a bit, worked on the eye a tad, cloned out a small part of the perch in the corner

I really like the majestic pose on this guy! Too bad about the broken-off part of the perch. The gradiant blue sky looks great. It looks like the image could go a tad brighter though - not much, perhaps 1/3 stop or so. Thanks for posting this beauty Jared!!

Good comments by Daniel and a very nice image, Jared. It seems to me that the image needs CW rotation - even if this is largely an optical illusion, my first impression is that the eagle might tip over to the left. :)

Very nice exposure, it shows very good feather detail. I agree with the CW rotation, also I might try a little crop off the bottom just below where the branch is broken off and if you have it add a small amount of canvas to the top for a little more head room.
