    This image of Swainson's Francolin was taken in the Kruger National Park in South Africa. These birds are common, confiding and conspicuous and therefore have great appeal for photographers.

    Camera: Canon 1Ds Mk II.
    Lens: Canon 100-300 mm at 280 mm (a cheapie, not L glass).
    1/200, f4, ISO 200.

    Very nice bird that I have never seen :)
    I'm guessing a lower angle was not possible, the background is complimentary and I would crop an inch from the left.

    Thanks for sharing this, love to see new species!

    Curiously cool bird. I agree with Fabs suggestion to get the bird a bit off center. I like the color on its facial skin, very different.

    Cute bird and nice pose. I don't think I've seen this species before. Thanks for sharing! I would also crop a bit off the left as he is too centered for my taste.
