    Default Breakfast of Champions

I recently posted a photo of a juvenile Bald Eagle landing in the water. This image was taken a little later in the morning. The light was really nice.

Very cool light, action and details. That is one big fish, I guess the eagle can be glad the water is so shallow. I could see this as a vertical crop, too.

    Doug:

I love the color in the water behind the bird, goes very well with him. Nice detail in the birds feathers. Was this fish alive? Hard to imagine he could hold onto it if it were fighting!

    Cheers

This fish was dying or dead; it was the result of a fish kill by the waterfowl management people.

Do they poison the fish and if so, does this have a negative impact on the health of the eagles? Maybe that is a question for the behavior forum.

They poison the fish, but the poison does no harm to the birds. In fact the birds come every year to eat the fish.

Nothing negative on this photo. The Light is magnificent as is the detail and the story told here. And I thought I had a good photo of a catch with the Great Egret I just posted.

    Hi Doug...

Light is great, subject is sharp...and it shows eagles for just what they are....

    Fancy vultures :)

Somehow this particular image just doesn't evoke any emotion to me. Can't quite place my finger on it.

That is some breakfast Doug. I am sure he was one happy fisherman that day. Great capture and thanks for sharing.
