    I like the chosen vertical comp. If at all possible a lower angle would have minimized the BG - and specifically prevented the greenish band from cutting across the neck/lower face area. Additional sharpening of the face would also be good because as posted the sharpest parts look like the crossed wing primaries. I like how the coot is standing in that small pool of water and looking back at us :-)

    I like the look-back pose and composition and agree with Daniel regarding a lower angle if that was an option.

    cheers for your comments, i couldn't get any lower without getting soaked , will have to take waders with me next time :)
