    Default Pigeon's Nest Security

This Crested Pigeon was nesting in our local Vineyard Estate. The nest was located only 6 feet from a gas-gun that fired every 10-15 minutes to frighten birds away from the ripening grapes. When the gun went off with a loud boom the pigeon would open her eye momentarily and then go back to sleep, so accoustomed she was to this ear shattering disturbance!!

Smart bird, sounds like a good way to keep other birds and predators away from her offspring. I like the unusual setting and story. I think the plumage could take another round of sharpening.

Maybe just a touch more sharpening, not by much though. What I really like here is the relaxed look on the mother's face. Very nice image, thanks for sharing the story.

A lovely image John and the first I have seen of a bird nesting in grapes. What beautiful plumage and a lovely chick.

Really a fantastic nest image. You couldn't ask for a better spot for a nest.

Looks like a wonderful nest home location! Enjoyed the background story! Pretty pigeon and what a sweet baby! Even has a little crest already. (-:
