This picture of a wallaby drinking was taken at Willowbank Wildlife Reserve in dappled light under some trees mid morning a few days ago (late summer in NZ).
    Details: Pentax K10D with Tamron 70-300 @ 200mm.
    400 ISO 1/90 sec @ F8 Multi-segment metered minus 0.5.
    Comments appreciated,also reposts.

Dappled light can be difficult as the overexposure on the foot reveals. I like the composition with the wallaby diagonal in the frame and drinking. The shadow on the face can be lightened up with a curves adjustment or shadows/highlights.

Great moment captured, but the mixed light was working against you. Love the colors of the water.

    Thanks Robert & Fabs
Have increased midtones in curves (for the second time)
    Also lightened highlights in variations
And also reduced green in variations to improve wallaby's fur colour.

    Ian,
I like the composition. The bright highlight is unfortunate. The repost is better but there is still some potential left in the image to be extracted.

Really nice comp and behavior you captured here Ian, the fur looks better to me on the repost but unfortunately the water color looks a bit strange to me in the repost.

Looks like selective editing is called for.

As the great Count Basie said "One more time !!!"
More unsharp mask and darkened highlights.
