I'm really sort of still thinking..I like the BG a lot, HA is good, bird colors are also good. I keep thinking it would be nice if bird was more eye level and the oof branch coming to the front might be distracting, don't know what you would do about it tho.

Post looks fine, maybe a bit brighter (not lighter) maybe not.

    Hi Kurt,
I like the composition and capture. I like the placement of the bird in frame...you have a good head angle with a good sharp eye contact...I would recommend on lightening the background just a tad, it looks slightly under exposed...you might want to boost the saturation and contrast just a touch and crop 1/4 from the bottom of the perch...looking forward to your next one...

kurt, it was about a third under. i set the black and white points only and reposted. love the pose and the perch isnt bad either. your original had a nice feel. dont know if i destroyed that or not.

I am wondering about the colors here. The bill looks unusual to me - too steel colored, especially the lower mandible. Also is there a shadow over his forehead? Is the whole bird a bit too dark even in Harold's re-post? Maybe eastern house finches are darker than the ones out here???

The bird's position is fine, sharpness is right on, and overall exposure looks fine to me. I am not a fan of overhead shots. The perch is a bit heavy for a finch and the oof front area may distract.

    Cheers
    Gail

Color balanced and got something close to Harold's Does look strange but the very few neutrals are neutral !!! (no other enhancement)
