White on white is still one of my favorite themes...

Photographed on a very dull day..., slightly overexposed to achieve this highkey effect.

Back in the white Canon days....perhaps I should try to do some black on black now :D

    Jasper:

I do really like the white on white, high key look. I wish the bird were slightly larger in the frame. For me, esp. with high key photos, a small subject tends to get lost against the mass of sky.

    Cheers

Funny, I feel the opposite...I have them bigger in frame as well...but they don't work for me. But perhaps you're right when thinking of webpresentation.

Well Jasper, that is the beauty of photography. People see things differently, no one is right or wrong, a very personal thing!

I like the presentation but agree that the subjet needs to fill more of the frame for my taste.
In high key photos there needs to be an area of detail in the subjet to offset the BG and on a small objet there is not enough detail to draw the viewer in

Great effect Jasper. I don't mind bird size. It gives the sense of the vast skies it has to traverse from one feeding ground to the next. At least that's my take. :)

I think that the position of the bird is the problem (if you want to keep it the size that it is). To me, at least, the position seems random, and close to the top or bottom corner would be better. There is a lot of empty space (completely empty I might add), and is this sort of overkill to get the idea across? I think a pano view, in which there is still ample space in front of the bird, would be better, and also forces a sense of direction and movement. I also aligned the bird somewhat. Better or Worse? regards~Bill
