Because this is my first capture (yesterday) of an American Bittern I'm posting it for comment. I got off a few exposures, but the rascal would not come out and I could not get closer -- I was far away, necessitating a 50% crop. I fussed with it otherwise also. Can this be saved, or should I abandon this one and go back to try for better luck? Frankly it does not look very good to me. Any recovery suggestions? C&C, please.

    Thanks,
    Wendell

Would keep as a record shot Wendell The harsh light and large crop make it tough !!

Difficult bird to capture, locally we have access to one at times .... more often than not he is just out of reach !!!!

It took me long enough to find what was making a sound like a huge bullfrog then i spotted my first Bittern , i still don't have a keeper so to say but i have a few photos just the same . So i know how you feel about this one its a keeper till you find a sweeter one :)

OK, I'll make it a "record shot". For those who might be still following this thread I should report that I saw the rascal again this morning, but it was hidden even better than before. Yes, this grasshopper will stay on the hunt, Lance, and if I capture a keeper, Glenn, I will be sure to post it.
