Select 2 blues from photo
Make a gradient
Save gradient as BG
Open original photo again
Press "V" move, holding down shift for exact cover of BG, I moved original over BG
Selected Background Eraser, clicked around good bird at 60% opacity
Selected Eraser and erased rest of original
Cropped to size
Image>adjustment>curves>Preset Linear Contrast>OK
Filter>Sharpen>Smart Sharpen>Amt 50%, Radius 1.0 px, Remove Lens Blur, More Accurate>OK
I like what Gud did with it alot, and was thinking along the same lines. 'Cepting I may have gone with a vertical composition following the lines of the branch and the bird's body. I'd love to have been able to use the landing bird but the head position is just not quite strong enouogh to keep that bird.
Gus - It is a Corella - he has a streak of red feathers along his neck, they are present in our area in the hundreds if not thousands -- they are considered a pest by many.
Gus - you certainly have provided a few options for frames - good work.
