Sort of a mini assignment - this image is straight out of the camera - converted from raw and nothing else.

What I am intrested in is .......

    1. Would you keep it.

    2. What do you like / not like about it.

    3. What you would do in PP to improve.

Curious to hear what you think - all points of view are valid :D

    ;)

    Hi Lance:

    Here's what I would do.

    Very simple.

    Open photo in CS4

    Select 2 blues from photo
    Make a gradient
    Save gradient as BG
    Open original photo again
Press "V" move, holding down shift for exact cover of BG, I moved original over BG
Selected Background Eraser, clicked around good bird at 60% opacity
Selected Eraser and erased rest of original
    Cropped to size
    Image>adjustment>curves>Preset Linear Contrast>OK
    Filter>Sharpen>Smart Sharpen>Amt 50%, Radius 1.0 px, Remove Lens Blur, More Accurate>OK

    Took about 15 minutes

I like what Gud did with it alot, and was thinking along the same lines. 'Cepting I may have gone with a vertical composition following the lines of the branch and the bird's body. I'd love to have been able to use the landing bird but the head position is just not quite strong enouogh to keep that bird.

Uncle Gus have you tried photo frames, they used to be made by Extensis Photo Frames 2.5? .... if you get a hold of them we might have to boot you :)

Interesting idea evicting the bird, interaction is interesting and might try to find a way to save him !!!

Gus - It is a Corella - he has a streak of red feathers along his neck, they are present in our area in the hundreds if not thousands -- they are considered a pest by many.

Gus - you certainly have provided a few options for frames - good work.

Lets see if any one else has any suggestions :)

Gus, yes. The second image cropped vertically is almost exactly what I was thinking ... even to the frame :)
