I took this picture last spring at a butterfly garden in Georgia. It was in a pavillon. I had to have a shallow depth of field because of handholding. Is it too shallow?

Used my Sigma 150mm macro lens
    ISO 400
    1/125s
    f/4
    hand held
    no flash

I would have liked a little more DOF, especially in the wing closer to us. Colors are very nice.

Nice comp and exposure, Rene, but I would like to see more DOF. (and I fully realize the technical difficulties you were facing in this situation :) )

I agree with the others, Rene. It definitely needs more dof. It also looks like the focal point was the tips of the antennae.

Although I do like the softness that the shallow DOF gives the butterfly, I think it would have been more successful with the front wing/body in focus instead of more of it on the back wing. I do still like it - but a little more DOF would have really helped the image along.

Beautiful soft lighting, Rene. And I love that waterdrop below the wing! Nice touch...
