    Default Common Redpoll

Were having somewhat of an irruption year on Common Redpolls throughout the state of Minnesota. This one was part of a very large thistle feeder depleting group that frequented my yard recently. I was able to get them from F/4 to F/11, I posted the F/4 as I prefer this BG.

Hi Mike! Nice pose with good eye contact. I might brighten the bird and reduce contrast just a little. Also I would crop a bit off the left.

Lovely colors and BG, especially like the grad in colors.

Great BG colors. Makes the bird "pop". like the fine detail as well.

Thanks for the feedback so far. I will say I was curious if I'd get any contrast comments as it was on my mind. I appreciate that feedback as I was on the fence.

Nice pose, lovely background, and the perch adds interest. The contrast does need to be reduced. Very nice capture.

I wonder why f/4 if you had plenty of light. I would love to see more details in the feathers.

Ah Maxis, you see its not always about having enough light. In this case I stated
I was able to get them from F/4 to F/11, I posted the F/4 as I prefer this BG. :)
The preference of a blurred BG was the give away. I'll go work up and post the other with more DOF, I'm guessing you may prefer it. ;) I think its still pretty buttery actually.

Okay, dang! I like this one with more DOF better! Thanks for making me go and do the comparison! If the BG wasn't so far away I would have probably liked a more buttery BG, but since they both look like Mrs. Butterworths. :D Gotta go with numero two.
