    Default Red-Shouldered Hawk in flight

I waited this guy out until he finally took off and to my surprise he didnt fly directly away for once. I fired off about 6 shots and this is my favorite. You can see the others and larger size photos at my web site.

    Hi Richard,
Nice to get him in flight with the wing beat up. The light angle is not the best and he's a bit tight in the frame. I like the blur in the wingtips and the BG.
    Keep them coming.

Good wing position and a distinctive BG. Light seems harsh and the sun angle not ideal. Agree with Fabs about the crop and also about the fact that the bird has already passed you. I would probably run some additional sharpening.

I like the wings up position and the good view of those powerful feet. The crop is a bit tight. Unfortunately, most of the flaws in this image have to do with the light. The light was harsh and the bird flew through mottled light. The poor sun angle caused overexposed areas on the face and near wing.

Could be sharper with a better head angle and eye contact.
