The only bird I managed to photograph at a large wetland before the duck hunters scared everything off.

canon 1d2n 500/f4 with 1.4X resting beanbag which is on a boogie board. I push it in front of me and 'elephant seal' through the slop behind.

Well...at least you brough this beauty home. Love the low angle here, it certainly makes the shot and it was totally worth your elephant seal imitation ;-)

A beautiful bird, nicely composed with a good head angle, and low shooting angle. On my monitor, except for the whites, it looks a little dark overall. You might try brightening it while holding back the whites. Well done.

Terrific low angle, pose, and sharpness. Blacks look dark but I see detail everywhere. I might remove the diagonal twig in front of the bird.

Superb low angle, head position and overall sharpness of perhaps my favourite wader. Great background too as is the light. I read somewhere last week or so. Never knew that such idiotic things as duck hunting would exist in our country. Shame that. Is there any info on the web about it at all?

Excellent low perspective and a lovely pose on this beautiful subject. Nice light and sharp detail. Good exposure control. There seems to be a slightly lighter halo around the top of the birds head.

Love the low angle, pose and lighting. Your boogie board technique sounds like a real winner.

Not really understan why it gets only a few comment. This is an awesome low level image with amazing sharpness. Lovely shorebirds. Can't wait to see more :)

Nice shot Rob. Your boogie board seems to work very well. I use a Skimmer which I bought from naturescapes.net. It looks a bit like a frying pan or an upturned frisbee with a bolt in the middle for a tripod head. Much like your boogie board, it can be pushed through muck without sinking. I highly recommend the Skimmer.

You can run some noise reduction on BG and clone that diagonal twig and you have a winner for sure!

Lovely species, pose, eye contact and sharpness.
