Default Wilson's Phalarope - My Lady of the Spring

    1DM2n, 600mm.. 1/1600, F 4.5, ISO 400.. Full Frame

As im planning a trip to SW Florida in the next 7-10 days, I spent a lot of time sorting/deleting folders from months ago to free up space on my laptop. I finally finished sorting the 800+ photos I took of this wonderfully cooperative female Wilson's Phalarope this spring at Point Pelee. I've posted a few photos of this bird around the net, but decided to do one more in celebration of finally getting the shots sorted/deleted!

Any last minute tips on the Florida Trip would be appreciated as well!:D

    Happy Shooting!!

Stunning light and detail, water sets off the bird nicely. I may go back a couple of points in saturation.

What part of Florida are you coming to?

    Hey Fabs,

I'll be staying in my car, so Im thinking of hitting a number of Locations. Maybe a stop at St. Augustine, Gatorland, maybe a short tour on an airbot around Lake Kissimmee, De Soto, Venice Rookery, Blind Pass, Cape Coral B-owls, Fort Myers/Little Estro and possibly making it down to the everglades. (All that, plus a healthy dose of exploration I think).

Never been anywhere near Florida for photography, and only know what I've read online, but I'm pretty excited. I like to try new/artistic things when the birds are cooperative, something we don't frequently get here in Ontario, but Florida sounds very exciting!

Thanks for the comment! I pushed the colour in this one a bit, and maybe over did it!

    All the best :D

If you get all the way down to the Glades, give a holler :)

    Have fun!

Great details, light, pose and composition. I like the idea of decreasing saturation a few points and maybe a little less contrast, too.

Ditto the comments of Fabs and Axel. I also like the reflection and the small ripples in the water. Well done.

All nits mentioned, I really like the overall feel of your image. My only other observation is that it looks a little too sharp, or could that be a result of exess contrast? Wonderful stuff Brandon.

Superb light you had here and you did well capturing this beautiful bird in it. I agree on the saturation issue.
