This was taken two weeks ago (before our rains came). I've been trying to get a cormorant in flight for a long time without very much success. This image is cropped 50%, tweaked a bit, and with NR and sharpening applied. Did I get a decent BIF picture? Can this one be improved further?
Hi Wendell - looks like that lovely golden afternoon light - like the pose. Good job on the exposure - details in most of the blacks.
Fels a little tight in the frame to me could use some more space back and bottom and maybe even the front - I think witht the angle of the capture it will work best as a pano type crop - just IMHO.
I might desaturate the water a tad and run some more NR over it to try and smooth it out a bit.
Hi Wendell,
A nice capture...agree with Mr. Peters' assessment and techs...I might suggest on burning the bill and portions of the head area; its a little light due to the sun...looking forward to your next one...
Lance and Gus -- Points taken . . . Lance, do you select the water-only when you run that NR? . . . and I did consider burning the areas you mention, Gus. I'll try to fix that.
Hi Wendell Agree with comments Would try to work on the eye might get it to appear sharper, I think the sensor was on the wing (nothing you could have done at the exposure time) Excellent capture !!!
