Very lovely pose Michael and the lighting is beautiful. What a treat it must have been to see this beauty at sunset. The eye contact is great but on my monitor I detect a little noise in the BG. Like this a lot Michael and many thanks for sharing.

I ran one pass of noise ninja. The second one took a lot of the detail away....

I wonder if there is a particular setting I could use to just nail that background....

Usually there are two reasons for noise in an image Michael. One is a high ISO or a big crop. Your ISO was not that high and I am not sure how much it was cropped. It is a beautiful image and definitely a keeper.

Aside from the noise this is stunning. Great pose and light. A bird high on my want list.

Mike, Use the magic wand to select the BG, put it on another layer and use the noise reduction on it, making sure the sharpening is off. Noise Ninja has a noise brush, you could try that too.
Start to work on it again, as not to use NN on the Eagle at all, just the BG.
Did you use Shadow/Highlight at all? Plumage looks noisy for ISO 800

Great pose and the sidelight makes this one for me. I hope you can remove the noise in the plumage and BG.
