Taken in Yellowstone with Dale Franz last week. What a great trip. The wolves were the highlight for me. Timed it just right when this one came in. We had wolves howling around us most of the morning.

    Hi Rich,

I am suffering from little bit of envy right now. What a great captured moment and I can only imagine the thrill you must have had seeing these gorgeous animals. Would love to have been there with you all !!!!:D Many thanks for sharing with us Rich and I will look forward to seeing more.

Well composed, Rich. The grass in the FG and BG tell us more about the environment and the wolf are placed in a pleasing way in the frame. The wolf's pose is good and his head angle is excellent.

Well Dale is turning out to be a fantastic resource for the Lamar Valley area! It seems you were taking pictures and talking with a friend of mine last week... Stan!
What was the kill the wolf was on?

That's funny. Stan was sitting next to me but was about 5 minutes late. The Wolf left the carcass just before he got there. He had mentioned during the week it always seemed like he was just a little late on missing the action. The wolf was on a elk carcass.

Aww, poor guy! I'd disagree with him, he's always nailing homeruns back home. Thanks for the ammo, now I can razz him up about this missed opportunity. :D

I agree with the positive comments on your image and wanted to add that the blood on the cheeks really adds to the reality of the capture. Awesome !!
    best,

    Hey Rich,

Love the image and the room you gave the wolf.. Fine natural history image. I might have put the wolf a little lower in the frame. It was a special day for sure.

    Rich,
I guess the subject distance is 51.2 meters? Lovely image. I like the blood in its face.

    Cheers,

Rich I took the liberty to mess around a bit in levels and curves to take some of the magenta out of the imgage.. What do you think?

Looks better Dale. I really didn't notice it before but now I see the difference. Thanks for the tip.

    Rich,

Dale did what I was going to suggest. NIce work capturing and framing this one.
