They are cooperative subjects; especially when there are lots of feeders. Once a specific feeder is selected it is guarded. Individual birds will select a perch near the feeder and chase off intruders. This alows for photo opps.
Self critique: BG, colors and resolution are good. The head could be angled more towards the camera; perch could be a little smaller, but is acceptable.

I disagree that the head angle should be turned toward the camera more. Hummingbirds seem to take on an odd look when they're looking directly at you (I know that's not what you wanted either though)
I like the pose and BG. Looks a little soft, likely due to the slow shutter speed; I would run a little additional sharpening. I think you did a nice self-assessment of the image. Thanks for sharing!
