Very striking composition and superb eye and BG Like everything about this one Juan. The grey BG is just gorgeous with the coloring of the Junco. Congratulations on a fine image.

I like this one better than the last one. That yellow eye really stands out in the photo! There isn't a lot of fine feather detail on the bird; was this a heavy crop? If not, I would run some additional sharpening.

Thanks Judy and Doug for your kind comments.

Doug, I made a slight crop for compo. but I guess that my problem here is the f number and the fast shutter speed.
I'll have it in mind next time.

Nice shot - I like the alert pose and rivetting eye.

I really like your composition, and that background is fantastic for this bird... that eye really pops.

Very nice! Highest mountain? Is it Turrialba, Irazu, Poas?

    Cheers,

A fast shutter should result in finer detail, not less; and the DOF is acceptable. I noticed that you are using the 35-350 lense. Is this a USM, or one of the 'L' series. If USM, I've found they can have a tendency to be soft in focus. The composition is very nice, as is the BG. ;)

Very nice Juan, Background and perch are excellent. Did you do any work on the eye?

    Hi Mark!

No, this is an old lens with no USM, but is an L series.
    Thanks for your help.

    Hello Graham.

No, I didn't touch the eye, what you see is the natural color of this guy's eye.
