Went to Reedy Lake near Geelong on the weekend all prepared to slide around in the mud and get close and personal with sharpies, marsh SP, greenshank, etc etc only to find Field & Game people everywhere sussing out the place for duckshooting::(
Needless to say the birds were very skittish so here's another shot of a crake from a couple of weeks ago.

Perfect focus and nice wading pose, Rob. I might crop a smidge from the top to remove the piece of reed at the top of the frame on the left and burn in some of the lighter reed in the BG. Plumage is maybe a tad oversharpened but the colours of the eye and bill really leap out.

Wonderful color and detail and the eye excellent. I really like the movement you captured in this image and the natural habitat. Well done and thanks for sharing Rob.

I like the soft light, eye contact and details and would crop a bit off the bottom and wish for a bit more head turn toward you.
