Ok, this is the first year I've shot the eagles and had an 800mm available. So I find myself at times with too much lens when it's mounted on a cropped DLSR yet wonder if my perceptions are wrong. I like getting in close for the action but feel that having both birds completely in the shot makes it better. Love to hear about this from others. I've included one of the marginal shots that captures the essence of the moment but not the complete birds. Good, bad...?? If conditions are still good tomorrow I'll mount the lens back on the FF 5D and see the additional space on like shots really does lend to a better image. Love to hear other thoughts on this though.
Maybe I should mention that this is a Nikon 800/5.6 adapted to the EOS mount. It's all old school manual focus, manual meter.
I like the action a lot an on high-end magazines, we often see wildlife pics with cropped wings and feet, emphasizing the action. The bothering element here is the out of focus gull? in the BG, maybe cropping more aggressively from the top can work?
I think Fabs ponitede out the one thing that couldīve been a nit, other than than, and IMO, the preety harsh light, I love this shot and this tight crop. Congratualtions!
Wonderful image and Fabs repost without the OOF gulls works well. The action and excellent detail and eye contact are all great and the tight crop really brings out the action even more. Love it !!!
