    From this morning at Peace Valley Park (Bucks County, PA).

    Canon 50D; Canon 300mm f/2.8L IS w/ 2x TC; handheld

    1/2500 sec @ f/5.6; ISO 800; 0 EV

    I like the head angle, pose, and details. The perch is a bit prominent for a bird this size. The BG looks a bit noisy on my monitor.

    Thanks for the critique, Axel. I was editing the photo as you were responding. I decided there was too much space to the left so I cropped some of that. I also ran another round of noise reduction. That should help the background. The perch is what it is. There was this dead tree near the blind and it was where all the Siskins would perch before moving on to the feeders.

    Very nice comp Ed, on my screen the head and main wing bar seem a little on the bright side.

    Hmm, I see what you mean Nate. I may have taken the exposure in Lightroom one notch too far. Interestingly it looked better back in Lightroom. In any event, I can dial back the exposure a tad without problem since I dialed it up in the first place. :)

    Agree with the above comments, specially the about the perch being too big for the subject, still, very nice light, pose, detail, BG, and color. Congratualitons.
