    Default Something Rare???

While at the beach in Fort Lauderdale yesterday afternoon, I observed a gull floating on the water while foraging. Most Florida Gulls/Terns seem to stay on the beach or dive when feeding, so I went to investigate. Using Sibley's I identified this as a Little Gull in First Winter Plumage. Artie: How rare a sighting is this in South Florida? D300; 70-200mm lens; 1.7X TC

    Thanks for looking.

Hugh, This is a Bonapartes's Gull. The lack of dark 'cap' and the long bill makes it.
Nice expo and focus on the bird on rough water.

What a thrill it must have been to see this little beauty Hugh. Congratulations !! Excellent exposure and well framed and the rough water is a nice bonus in this image.

Nice light and the little wave adds to it. I would add a bit more space on the left side, but not too much.
