Nikon D300 w/Nikkor 70-300 @ 122mm (Handheld) ISO 400 f/6.3 1/800 Taken at Gatorland 2/12/09 at dusk
I borrowed a friends D300 to take some test shots, as my new D300 has some serious issues with... well, just about everything. Noise, Focus issues, tracking issues, and exposure problems continue to plague me even after the latest firmware update, so it's heading back to Nikon for repair/replacement. Was nice to finally get some decent shots last night, so I thought I would share one of a Great Egret in flight at Gatorland.
Sorry about the problems with your D300, most have been working well, glad is going in for service.
Best to catch the bird while is coming your way rather than going away, you did not list an exp comp but the image seems under exposed and remember that will lead to noise when fixing in PS At this time is also good to use some fill flash being careful not to overpower the beautiful warm light. Let us know the outcome of the repair !!!
Hi Mike. In addition to what Al said, I would add that you've got a little too much canvas above and below the bird but not quite enough behind and in front of it. Good luck getting your D300 fixed.
