This Atlantic Giant Cockle was stranded by low tide at sunrise on Sanibel Island. These guys make a good meal for the local gulls. 20D, 90mm tilt/shift tilted to maximize DOF, 1/45, f/16, ISO 100. I cleaned up a few small bits of beach debris. Comments are welcome.
I find this a very interesting and pleasing composition. The diagonal mounds of sand, the placement of the Cockle, the shadow, the reflection of the Cockle all add up to an image well done.
Boy, am I glad you cleaned that up before you took it: )
Steve, all these beach images of yours are stunning. They are so well composed and the shadows add so much depth and texture that I find myself staring at them far longer than most images. I'm not really sure if it's the quality of the light or just the overall feel of these images but I'd be proud to call any of them mine. They are really hitting on all cylinders.
