Taken a couple weeks ago off the bluffs of Point Roberts, Wa. Lots of shadow recovery going on to get the underside of wings. 50D, 400/5.6 at f/5.6, Av mode, 1/800, EC+1 2/3, ISO400. Dave
You did well bringing out the shadow detail and controlling noise at the same time. Nice job with the exposure compensation too. I love the wing position and the framing of the bird. Eye contact is good too. I would darken the sky a little and perhaps make the catchlight a little smaller.
Hi Dave - love that wingspan - good job with the exposure and the S/H, agree with doug on the sky could be a bit darker will just give him that bit of pop. :)
Thanks Guys for the comments and suggestions. Interesting comments on the sky, I actually prefer a slightly darker bg but had read somewhere that lighter may give more "contrast" with subject. I will redo for my records, Tks, Dave
