This is really cute. Nice to see one perched instead of hovering - splayed tail and spread wings great. The blue flower is pretty and I see why you included it but wonder if it would not increase the focus on the bird if you cropped for the bottom to exclude it.

    Great shot Alan!

I simply love it : sharp, interesting pose, nice blue flower, good DOF.

In a single word : GREAT!

Well the bird was perched, so I didn't think I needed the shutter speed. F10 insured that all of the perch, flower and bird was in focus. When the bird spread it's wings, I just got lucky that it was sharp and no motion blur.

Very nice pose and action shared here. Love the lovely bg.
I am not sure about the blue flower on the bottom. Takes my eyes immediately from the Hummi.

A wonderful image and quite unusual to capture a hummer perched. The f10 was good thinking and the BG is just great.

I like the flower as it is part of the plant/perch. One of my favorite RT Hummer shots ever. Well done Alan.

    alan -
it was luck to be there at the right moment, but took your skills to turn it into an outstanding photo
given everything is in focus with good DOF - i'd leave the flower in, otherwise it just becomes another photo of a HB on a perch
perfection would have been a little more stretch on the left wing, but that's what keeps you coming back
    envious - - well done

The gorget attracts me more than the blue flower. I think the whole thing is perfect. You are just too good with perches!!!

Another outstanding hummer, Alan. The perch and BG are spectacular, as usual.
