Eastern Grey Kangaroo and joey photographed in a local park a couple of years ago, not long after getting my first dslr.

Canon 400D, EF400 f/5.6, tripod, partial metereing, ISO400, f/5.6, 1/200, vertical crop from horizontal image, a bright orange spot and tail from adjacent kangaroo have been disguised.

Very nice detail, a slight head turn of the adult would have made a big difference but nevertheless a pleasing image.

Good eye contact with the baby. Lot of details. Vertical composition works. I would try to desaturate a bit.

    Simon,

Killer look on the Joey. The adults head turn is OK but the eye is glancing away - that is not a big deal though.

I would have allowed more romm on the top and bottom. I reposted a version here where i did the following:

    1) Reverse s-curve to lower the contrast (Reverse S-Curve here: http://www.birdphotographers.net/for...ad.php?t=20434)

    2) Lowered overall saturation per Saby's comments.

    3) Selected the dark eye and did a curves correction on it by pulling up and left at the center of the linear curve to make it elliptical.

    Robert,

What an amazing repost, you have some very interesting techniques which I am trying to make work.
