    Default Sandhill Feathering

Early morning light on a juvenile preening before flight. I used this crop to highlight the feathering and block out surrounding cranes. Does it work?

The cranes, geese, and eagles will leave New Mexico in a few weeks, but presently the numbers are still quite high. More from Monday's trip on my blog.

Looks already heavily cropped (?), but the composition would work best if it were cropped additionally at bottom to above the open triangle in LLC...having said this it may be pushing the IQ a bit at this point. I also wish the eye was more visible. The blue spots at bottom and ULC have weird artefacts going on?

I like the light and ruffled feathers and wish the entire head were visible. I agree regarding noise and artifacts in the BG.

Opps. I uploade the wrong file and that's where those artifacts came from. Thanks for noticing them and for your other suggestions.

Hi David, still looks a little strange in the corners on my monitor anyway, not sure this crop works for me.

I like it. With that light and detail the crop does not bother me. And I like the first version best, the background could use some work but it is so small. It would be nice to see more of the head, I assume you had to crop out something nasty.
