Ring-billed Gull captured at the Salton Sea in harsh sunlight. Selectively sharpened the bird only, aggressive Noise Ninja and de-saturation on the BG. Slightly cropped for composition.

Hi Kerry - Love the landing pose - and beautifully sharp to boot. You have done well with the harsh light - some of the whites are pushing 253/254, you could probbaly try a multiply/linera burn layer or a combo of both.
I wouldn't mind a little more space up front maybe - hmmm not sure... Heres another take see what you think.
Used Content aware scale to extend the BG a bit (added Canvas) cropped from the bottom a tad as well.
Thanks Lance, I like it! I debated opening it up a bit. Was afraid of cropping off the bottom due to the thin line of beach that is left. Must be time to get my artistic license renewed... ;-) Also need to learn the layer tricks. I know they're on the forum somewhere. So much to learn, so little time!
Nice capture Kerry...I like the details on the feathers...you do have some hot spots on the upper wings...Mr. Peters' repost took care of that and the adding of the canvas to the left of the gull looks nice also the cropping from the bottom...well done...looking forward to your next one Sir...
All elements are working well together, beautiful two tone bg, intense look, flaring and feel !! Got a winner btw do like the re post a lot, the little room up front works well !!!
Must have been very bright and sunny Kerry with you low ISO and fast SS. Love all the primaries, and others (secondaries??) Love the bent legs about to land. If the perch is in the same focal plane should you sharpen it too?? Just a thought. VG PP skills.
