After reading John and Artie's on-line conversation about the Sheffield Mills Bald eagles, I thought I would post 1 more image taken standing with John and Marc-Oliver on Saturday. Now I wonder if there were more BPN members in NS than in Florida this weekend? But this is an annual event, held over 2-3 weekends every Feb., and accompanied by excellent sausage and blueberry pancake breakfasts.
D300, Nikon 80-400 handheld, ISO 800, 1/1600, f8.0, EV +1/3. The lighting was very strong from the right, but I don't think the highlights are quite blown out.
Nice poses and matching body angles. Whites look OK but I don't have access to a histogram at present. You could possibly pull a bit more detail from the shaded parts of the wings. Stand out well against the blue sky. Halos are a bit prominent along the dark edges.
Whites look good for such an image in strong daylight. I think the sunny side to shadow side of the wings is nicely balanced with good detail on the sunny side and just the right amount of shadow with detail on the dark side.
You might have guessed by now, I never tire of seeing images of bald eagles . Like the framing of the subject and exposure seems pretty good. How much of a crop is this? By the way I am fairly new member here, being such I am unfamilar with the article on Sheffield Mills Eagles. Where do I find More info ?
