I'm very proud to say that 10 years after buying my first SLR-camera I reached my first publication with National Geographic magazine this month. The Dutch/Belgium edition features a 4 page portfolio on the arctic fox series I've been working on over the last years on Svalbard.
Through this series of photographs of the arctic fox I try to raise awareness for climate change in our fragile arctic region and for the effects of climate change in general. While the polar bear is the official ambassador for climate change, I'm convinced that we're able to see different problems through the eyes of the arctic fox. Perhaps it is time for a second ambassador?
This is one of the photographs I took this year (which is not in the publication).
I'd like to thank you all for your support over the years...and keep up the great work with BPN!
Ow...one more thing. I've had a lot of questions about the Svalbard workshops for 2009...
Although there aren't any workshops planned for 2009, I just announced my 2010 Svalbard workshop on my website. So if you're interested in a phototrip to the high arctic, just have a look. I'll probably put the announcement here on BPN somewhere next week.
Congratulations!!! Jasper,
for being published in NG ,
we really need to wake up to the reality that is Global Warming and find solutions that can be implemented to reverse the situation and implement them as soon as possible.
This is a really nice panned shot with beautiful color and nice detail.
nice to see your amazing pictures on your website especially considering your age.
I might have put the fox lower and more to the right in the frame to give him some room to run into. I like the sense of motion with the blur while keeping the head still sharp.
Congratulations on your achievement and I hope you maintain your well dedicated efforts.
