    Default Northern Pygmy Owl

    D300 200-400 + 1.7TC on tripod. Manual exposure mode, no flash. ISO 800 f6.7 1/320sec.

Cropped, removed some branches in the background.

    Hazy sunlight.

It seems to me most owl photos have the owl looking straight at the camera. I have that, too. I mean, owls are very cooperating in that regard. I also like this one though.

    C&C welcome and appreciated !!

BTW, this is a tiny owl. You can walk pass it without knowing it's there. Or, you'd think it's just another sparrow.

PS I haven't had any opportunity to photo any squirrel yet.

Hi Desmond - wow a OWL that small amazing. I like the pose and exposure looks good. Love the high key effect.
Eye looks good might just lighten the area around the eye a tad, also the branch on the RHS looks unfinished in regarsd to the cloning work. Can see some noise present.

Hi Desmond Owls are always neat captures and this is a good one.

Agree with Lance. Can also see something funny around the tail area.

Regarding the eyes looking at the camera or not I like both. When turning away would rather have it enough so the other eye was not visible, here I see part of it, a few degrees more would have been out of sight !!! Just personal preference. btw for these if you can get some flash will make a world of difference, not only lighting the bird some but with sharpness !!

Beautiful bird Desmond, just seeing lines around things. Thanks for sharing. Don't worry about squirrels they are springing out from everywhere!
