    Default Phoebe

Every year a pair of phoebes nest on our barn. I noticed that they would frequently perch on this branch when flying to and from the nest, so I set up and waited for one of them to land on it. Any C&C are welcome!

    Hi Christopher,
I really like the composition and capture...you have good color rendition, sharp details with a good head angle and sharp eye...the background could be lightened just a tad with a pass of noise reduction...congrats...well done...

Hi Chris Looks really good Agree with suggestions by Gus !!

You did get the exposure right ... not sure what was the spot metering on? btw if you ever get away from it and go to some "matrix" type, you mind find the compensation different but more predictable !!!

love the pose, chris. agree with gus about lightening the bg and some NR. would help a bit. strong composition and nice perch.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions, I appreciate them!

Alfred, I think the spot metering was on the phoebe's chest. I'll take your advice and try matrix metering in the future. Thanks again!

Chris you need to know how big the spot is on his chest and if you just move a little you are in a world trouble. Spot a light area like chest or dark like bg will give totally different readings.

Hi Chris - all the techs covered above - nice one - love the bg.

Made a couple of quick and dirty changes - you can do much better with the original - selectively lightened the BG a tad - selectively sharpened the bird and eye a tad. NR on the BG.

    :)

Alfred, Thanks for the info. I've learned from experience how tricky spot metering can be. With some birds such as chickadees I find even spotting on different parts of the bird will give different readings.

Lance, Your repost definitely improves it. Thanks!

    Thanks everyone for commenting!
