Female snail kite on Lake Toho this morning looking for breakfast in vain. I had the pleasure to have Maxis and Marina join me on board. We encountered as many kites as I have seen this year as well as a diverse species list.

    MKIII, EF500 @1.4x, 1/3200, f/6.3, ISO 500, EC +1/3, hand held

Very nice pose, angle and background! Good sharpness. Some blow highlights though.

    Hi Mike,

What a lovely capture you have here. Love the composition and the exposure of the upper body. I'm so glad we found all those places and I'm looking forward to go back again.

I thank you for your kindness and I can't wait to go boating with you in Tampa Bay.

    Take care!

Agree about the hot whites, but I love the shot, great angle, pose, detail and sharpness! CongratulaitonS!

Thanks about pointing out the whites as well as the kind words. Looked back at the raw file and they are not clipped so I screwed it up somewhere along the line.

Superb pose and action Mike. The Bg is a bit bright to my taste but it would be easy to tone down a bit. the whites on the rump are very bright but, fortunately, they are not clipped (only a bunch of pixels in the level 255). That is good because you can save the whites very easily in the RAW file.
